Reuela Cajudo Mitchell aka Wella
Wella I was born in Olongapo City, Philippines on June 23, 1962.  I have two brothers, Sammy and Florencio and one sister named Raquel.  My parents, Leonardo and Francisca brought us up in a Christian family with a proper discipline and respect for other people.  Whenever my parents asked our eldest, Sammy, to do some housework, there seemed to be some chain of command.  The eldest would tell my sister to do the work, then my sister would tell my brother Flor and he would pass it to me since I was the youngest.  I got to do all the work since I didn’t have anyone to pass it on to.  During my grade school years, I went to two grade schools.  My first, third, and fifth years I went to East Tapinac Elementary School in Olongapo City.  My fourth and sixth grade years I went to Ponciano Elementary School in Manila.  The reason for this was my mom went back to school to get her Master’s Degree in teaching and since I was the youngest I got to go wherever she went.  In the Philippines there are only six years in grade school then you jump to high school.  I spent four years of my high school at Olongapo City National High School.  My High School years were some of the best years of my life.  I participated in different curricular activities during these years, Cheering Squad, Dance Troupe, Singing Group, School Newspaper and the Home Economics Club.  Our Dance Troupe competed with the other high schools within the city and we won and competed all the way to the Nationals.  I graduated from high school in 1979 and then in 1980 I went to Manila for College at the University of the East.  I only went to college for the first two semesters and didn't complete the third semester because I left the country and joined my brother and my dad here in California.  It was a rough adjustment for the first two years.  Getting to know the culture, the people, and just knowing that you are just starting from scratch in the new country was pretty scary.
